x Pachyveria 'Tuatara' quick care tips

Watering

x Pachyveria 'Tuatara' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

x Pachyveria 'Tuatara' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

x Pachyveria 'Tuatara' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

x Pachyveria 'Tuatara'

A stunning hybrid of Echeveria glauca x Pachyphytum compactum.

x Pachyveria 'Tuatura' was named by a Surreal Succulents' apprentice Sarah in 2016. From New Zealand, the leaves reminded her of the spikes of the native New Zealand reptile, the name of which in Maori means 'peaks of the mountain'. The rosette is formed by multiple pointy leaves of a pale-blue/green colouring. The tips are that of the compactum and will blush all year round. Under stong light, it can reach some incredible shades of pink and blue.

A great plant that clumps over time, filling a pot would be easy for a succulent like this.
