Almost invincible by our standard. They can tolerate dry, wet, hot, cold or any other conditions you can think of. Just give them the suited soil mix and you’re good to go.

A sun-beaten porch/ courtyard would be ideal for these slow-growing spiny plants, as this would provide sufficient shelter from the UK weather. 

Originating from Central America, these plants vary widely from thin leaved more delicate specimens to absolute dominant beasts of nature.
