Watering
Watering
Jovibarba heuffelii 'Aquarius' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.
Feeding
Feeding
Jovibarba heuffelii 'Aquarius' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Jovibarba heuffelii 'Aquarius' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Jovibarba heuffelii 'Aquarius'
A Jovibarba hybrid created here in the UK by Ernie Fearnley in 1972.
Like the rest of the heuffelli varieties, it offsets within itself to create an original feature in your succulent display. This beautiful plant is extremely resilient and features green leaves with burgundy tips under strong light.
Best planted outdoors all year round but protected from hail to avoid physical damage to the plant. Looks great with an array of other Sempervivum.
Jovibarba are a close family member of Sempervivum, the differences are that they produce their pups from the stems or amongst the leaves and will a lot of the time, roll away from the mother. Whereas the Sempervivum will always offset using stolons. They also have bell-shaped flowers rather than the Sempervivum star-shaped flowers.
