Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’ quick care tips

Watering

Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’ is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’ likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.

Ideal soil

Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’ needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’

This highly prized Haworthia cooperi ‘Amber’ is packed with detail, colour and form. When the Sun hits the translucent leaves, they erupt into the most incredibly dazzling display and looks just like a living crystal.

As the lime green leaves develop from the centre of the plant, the fine white mosaic markings slowly separate and spread out as the leaves grow, allowing for the crystal-like windows to develop.

As the outer leaves age, they darken, giving the plant an almost variegated appearance. As the Haworthia grows, it will produce offsets and in time, these offsets can be removed to create new plants to be potted up separately.

If you are looking for a houseplant that is compact and easy to grow, then this has to be top of that list."
