Gasteria nitida var. nitida quick care tips
Watering
Watering
Gasteria nitida var. nitida is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.
Feeding
Feeding
Gasteria nitida var. nitida likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Gasteria nitida var. nitida needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

A species native to South Africa.
Gasteria nitida var. nitida is a dark, spotty and shiny succulent. The name nitida is a direct translation of 'shiny' in Latin. Relatively slow growing, but will happily grow faster if fertilised and given some love in the form of fresh soil and plant food in the growing period (April-September).
