Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Suprise' quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Suprise' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Suprise' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Suprise' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Suprise'

Echeveria x gilva 'Blue Surprise' is a lovely blue coloured mutant of Echeveria 'Gilva'.

This variety can grow to around 25cm diameter with rosettes of fleshy blue leaves. It will bloom in spring with long spikes carrying pink and yellow bell-shaped flowers.

A perfect feature plant for a windowsill.
