Echeveria secunda var. glauca quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria secunda var. glauca is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria secunda var. glauca likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria secunda var. glauca needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria secunda var. glauca

Echeveria secunda var. glauca is a popular variety of this popular Echeveria species. The name was given to this plant due to it having no origin in the wild.

It is a fast-growing variety that offsets freely. The leaves are more of a spoon shape and are of a much larger size than that of the Echeveria glauca. The flowers occur in mid-summer and consist of pink flower spikes holding yellow bell-shaped blossoms.

A great plant as a standalone on a windowsill.
