Crassula 'Lucky Star' quick care tips

Watering

Crassula 'Lucky Star' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Crassula 'Lucky Star' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Crassula 'Lucky Star' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Crassula 'Lucky Star'

Crassula ‘Lucky Star’ is a close relative of Crassula ‘Baby Necklace’, consisting of the same parentage (Crassula rupestris x Crassula perforata) but seems to have taken more of the perforata form.

This hybrid adds the beautiful red blush of the rupestris, along with the thinner leaves, to the size and height of the perforata. Crassula rupestris is quite a dominant species, with a lot of hybrids of the plant looking more like itself rather than the other parent, so a plant like this is a rare find.
