Aloe humilis quick care tips

Watering

Aloe humilis is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Aloe humilis likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Aloe humilis needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Aloe humilis

Aloe humilis or commonly known as the spider Aloe is a species native to the eastern cape of South Africa.

It can be found clinging to rock faces where it survives in the baking sun. It's a very nice compact stemless growing Aloe with these white teeth dotted up and down the leaves, once potted on it produces multiple offsets.

When the Aloe is mature enough it produces these bright orange flowers.
