Aloe haworthioides quick care tips

Watering

Aloe haworthioides is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Aloe haworthioides likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.

Ideal soil

Aloe haworthioides needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Aloe haworthioides

This species of Aloe is native to Madagascar and named for the spiny hairs found on the leaves that resemble that of a Haworthia species. This is a small formed species that does not grow on a stem, but instead forms clumping offsets sporting orange flowers in autumn.
