Aloe aculeata quick care tips

Watering

Aloe aculeata is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Aloe aculeata likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.

Ideal soil

Aloe aculeata needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Aloe aculeata

A species from several areas in South Africa.

Aloe aculeata is a solitary rosette-forming succulent that can grow up to 70cm high in ideal conditions. In its natural habitat, it survives severe drought-like conditions.

This Aloe makes a fantastic indoor plant and will grow very happily on a bright windowsill.
