Aeonium 'Emerald Flame' quick care tips

Watering

The Aeonium 'Emerald Flame' would like watering between once and twice per week in the peak growing season. It is advised to reduce watering when plants are dormant due to a heatwave and to significantly reduce/ stop watering when conditions are frosty.

Feeding

Aeonium 'Emerald Flame' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Aeonium 'Emerald Flame' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Aeonium 'Emerald Flame'

Aeonium 'Emerald Flame' is a cross between Aeonium 'Firecracker' x Aeonium dodrentale. It keeps a low clumping form, it offsets slightly slower than A. 'Phoenix Flame' and doesn't have the same deep red colouration in the leaves but in the summer it takes on its own characteristics with flecks and striations coming out on the older leaves.

This plant was named by Kesher Ashby, our competition winner on Facebook. Thank you, Kesher.

Amazingly, this Aeonium has survived outside in temperatures as low as -6℃.
