Aeonium canariense quick care tips
Watering
Watering
The Aeonium canariense would like watering between once and twice per week in the peak growing season. It is advised to reduce watering when plants are dormant due to a heatwave and to significantly reduce/ stop watering when conditions are frosty.
Feeding
Feeding
Aeonium canariense likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Aeonium canariense needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.
Aeonium canariense
Aeonium canariense is a true species from Tenerife, it is also known as the 'Giant Velvet Rose' due to its delightful velvet-like texture.
This species usually produces a single solitary rosette up to 30cm wide, that can offset once it's flowered. When its mature enough to flower it produces a cone of hundreds of star-shaped yellow flowers each one full of nectar, perfect for bees.
