Curio amaniensis quick care tips

Watering

Curio amaniensis is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Curio amaniensis likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Curio amaniensis needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Curio amaniensis

Curio amaniensis is a spectacular large species native to Tanzania.

In ideal conditions, this attractive succulent can grow up to 3-4ft high and produces very attractive tubular trumpet-like flowers in mid-summer. In strong light, the beautiful glaucous green leaves produce a striking pink tinge on the outer leaf margins.

A perfect patio pot plant that will need a bit of protection from the winters.
