Watering
Watering
Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.
Feeding
Feeding
Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba'
Agave americana 'Mediopicta Alba' is one of the most attractive and desirable Agave variegates around. It has the most alluring cream stripe running up the centre of each of its grey/blue leaves.
A robust grower that makes the most stunning architectural pot plant, they can grow to an astonishing size. Once matured after 10 years, they can survive temperatures to as low as -8*c for short periods of time.
They can grow up to 1.2 metres in height and spread, and over their lifetime they will produce plenty of baby pups which can be removed and grown on in their own pots.
Pot on during the spring into a free-draining gritty succulent compost, mix with a little bit of slow-release fertilizer.
Protect from winter wet.
