Echeveria xichuensis quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria xichuensis is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria xichuensis likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria xichuensis needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria xichuensis

Echeveria xichuensis is definitely one of our favourite species. It produces these marble-like patterns that run through every leaf, and its metallic grey colouring makes it truly stand out amongst our collection, a real joy to grow.

Echeveria xichuensis is native to Mexico in the state of Guantanamera, where it can be found almost camouflaged and clinging to rock crevices away from grazing animals.

They make fantastic windowsill feature plants once they become established.

A must for any collection.
