Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose' quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose'

A Dick Wright hybrid of Echeveria fimbriata x Echeveria sp bred in California, US in 1963.

Echeveria 'Mahogany Rose' has fantastic colours and a great form. It can reach some impressive sizes, the leaves dominate the plant with deep-burgundy colours, yet appear shiny. At the leaf margins, a fire-red colouring appears. It blooms throughout the year, boasting a large fleshy stalk carrying bell-shaped flowers of red and yellow colouring.

A favourite for most, it is the perfect feature plant.
