Echeveria 'Black Rose' quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria 'Black Rose' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria 'Black Rose' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria 'Black Rose' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria 'Black Rose'

This uniquely speckled looking Echeveria ‘Black Rose’ is a very popular variety especially in Asia and other parts of the world. As the seasons change and light levels intensify, the appearance and colours will also change. As summer comes along, the rosette will slowly close and the dark speckled colourings will be at their most intense.

The Echeveria can go from lime green all the way to a dark orangey colour. Stays low and compact and will offset after a few years, flowers will appear in mid-spring.

A very easy to grow plant and a great one to enjoy indoors on a windowsill.
