Gasteria acinacifolia quick care tips

Watering

Gasteria acinacifolia is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Gasteria acinacifolia likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Gasteria acinacifolia needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Gasteria acinacifolia

The largest of the Gasteria genus.

This species features beautiful big orange and green flowers.  It also features big tongue-like green and spotty leaves. A slow-growing plant but worth the wait.

This plant can grow up to 75cm, making it a perfect showcase plant for a succulent bed.
