Crassula cordata quick care tips

Watering

Crassula cordata is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Crassula cordata likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.

Ideal soil

Crassula cordata needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Crassula cordata

Also known as Heart-Leaved Crassula. Native to South Africa.

Crassula cordata is a quick-growing succulent that produces an array of delicate little white flowers on the end of each branch mid to late summer.

The leaves are bluish-green in colour with an attractive red outer leaf margin. Each leaf is covered in multiple dots which turn to a striking red colour when exposed to strong light.

Great in a pot or bowl positioned on a windowsill indoors.
