Crassula clavata is a small compact stem-less species from South Africa. In its natural habitat, it can be found growing in gritty/rocky outcrops where it thrives on very little moisture during the summer. In the cooler months, the plant will turn greener in colour as it’s growing. As the sun’s rays intensify, the deep purple/red colouring is extremely enhanced. The glaucous leaves are quite rigid and robust making this a great plant for indoors, it produces multiple stems with plenty of tiny white flowers in the spring.
This is a great companion plant for a succulent display as it’s intense bright red colouring and its compact form really complements and contrasts with many other varieties, such as Hawothias, Aloes, Gasteria and other Crassula species like ovata.
