Pachyphytum hookeri quick care tips

Watering

Pachyphytum hookeri is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Pachyphytum hookeri likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Pachyphytum hookeri needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Pachyphytum hookeri

An attractive species native to Mexico.

Pachyphytum hookeri produces multiple stems of attractive blue/green glaucous leaves. Under strong light, the leaf tips will blush red to create a really stunning composition of beautiful coral-colours. This variety blooms in the spring with large bell-shaped flowers.

Grows well in full sun part shade, looks great when planted with other succulents in a display.
