Echeveria runyonii variegata 'Akaihosi' quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria runyonii variegata 'Akaihosi' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria runyonii variegata 'Akaihosi' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria runyonii variegata 'Akaihosi' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria runyonii variegata 'Akaihosi'

Echeveria runyonii variegata ‘Akaihosi’, also known as Macedonia, is a variegated form of Echeveria runyonii from Japan.

An extremely rare plant. The colour, along with the runyonii silvery-blue, ranges from vanilla to sunset-pink throughout the year and will curl under strong light. Will flower in mid-late spring.

This plant would not go unnoticed in any collection, display alongside other variegates and compare the changes in colour throughout the year. Would look great near a ‘Compton Carousel’.
