Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata quick care tips

Watering

Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata

Crassula ‘Fantasy' variegata is the incredibly rare form of the much-loved trailing plant the Crassula perforata ssp. Kougaensis, which is a highly sort after and popular variety. This is a miniature form of Crassula perforata.

This subspecies is a small, trailing succulent that has tough, woody stems allowing it to carry itself and stay in formation. The plant consists of small rosettes that etiolate naturally to create a snake-like sculpture. It displays colours of green and yellow, each stem looking very much like a caterpillar. It blooms in the late spring/summer with beautiful pink flowers that appear from the central rosettes. It will offset readily all year round but mostly during and after flowering.
