Aeonium 'Velour' quick care tips

Watering

The Aeonium 'Velour' would like watering between once and twice per week in the peak growing season. It is advised to reduce watering when plants are dormant due to a heatwave and to significantly reduce/ stop watering when conditions are frosty.

Feeding

Aeonium 'Velour' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.

Ideal soil

Aeonium 'Velour' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Aeonium 'Velour'

Aeonium 'Velour' is an attractive specimen once it reaches maturity. The leaves turn a very dark red with green centres in strong light levels. It has a lovely soft texture to its leaves, hence its name which is the French word for 'velvet'. It will grow to form many stages of offsets, creating this Christmas tree-like form. Gets to a very large size so it needs lots of room to grow.
It is very popular because it is easy to grow. It also works as a wonderful beginner plant.
