Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf' quick care tips
Watering
Watering
The Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf' would like watering between once and twice per week in the peak growing season. It is advised to reduce watering when plants are dormant due to a heatwave and to significantly reduce/ stop watering when conditions are frosty.
Feeding
Feeding
Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.
Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf'
Aeonium 'Schwarzkopf', also known as Black Rose or Black Beauty, is a striking succulent prized for its dark, almost black, rosettes. The leaves are glossy, forming tight spirals as they grow, creating a dramatic and captivating appearance.
This drought-tolerant plant requires bright sunlight and well-draining soil, making it suitable for indoor and outdoor cultivation in mild climates. 'Schwarzkopf' adds a bold touch to succulent arrangements, gardens, or containers, making it a first-choice plant.
We often feature this plant in our RHS display gardens due to its ability to create a great contrast of colour to nearby succulents.
Also named Aeonium ‘Zwartkop’.

I received 2 small cuttings instead of the one I was expecting. Both have beenn potted up separately in my porch awaiting better weather when they will go outside. I look forward to seeing them grow in the spring/summer.
Ordering was simple and received the order promptly.
The bare rooted Aeonium arrived perfectly packaged with detailed potting instructions.
Now the hard bit ….my responsibility to get the poor thing through the winter months. The plant was in good condition when it arrived. It has lost some leaves now after a few weeks. Now trying a different position, from kitchen windowsill with limited sunlight, in the greenhouse. Increased sunlight and light.
