Salary £9.50 per hour 35 to 40 hours per week, immediate start.
Surreal Succulents is an RHS award winning business boasting a popular website and retail nursery. As part of our growing business, we are looking for a part time shop assistant / nursery assistant to join the team. Are you a highly motivated and flexible individual with great communication that has a passion for the role and plants.
This role will involve working in our nursery outlet 2 days a week and 3 days a week working in the growing/production of plants and monitoring the quality of the products being sold.
Full training will be given so don’t be put off if you have very little Horticultural or plant experience or knowledge. Enthusiasm will go a long way and we can develop your skills with our in-house training program.
Under guidance of the senior management, you will be required to:
· Work part time at our retail nursery outlet selling plants, gifts and nursery products.
. Get involved with the nursery work, watering, potting and propagating stock as well as other aspects of the business.
. Process website orders
· Help picking /packing and processing of website orders as part of our dispatch team.
· Get involved with the nursery work, watering, potting and propagating stock as well as other aspects of the business.
The normal working hours are 8 till 5 (35 to 40 hours pw), but overtime is expected during our peak and busy times of the season. You will be mainly site-based in the nursery, but during the year you may be required to work at shows, markets, and the nursery outlet.
Main duties to include:
- Open/Close our nursery outlet two days a week, provide customer support, stock the nursery, prepare plants ready for sale, labelling stock, restock nursery and cashing up daily.
- Stock Control – Booking in, labelling, and setting out stock within the nursery. Producing stock for our website, shows and nursery outlet, as well as stock reports for our newsletter.
- Production – of a diverse range of plants (mainly succulents) including Aeoniums, Echeveria, Agave, Yucca, Palms and a range of perennial plants. Also ensuring stock is watered appropriately.
- Identification – Pest/disease/weed issues to be reported to management.
- Flexibility – As part of the wider team, you will be expected to have full flexibility where required to assist with the pick/pack/dispatch aspect of the business.
- Weekends This role requires weekend work, we share this role so you will be required to work alternate weekends.
