Sedum sexangulare quick care tips
Watering
Watering
Sedum sexangulare is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.
Feeding
Feeding
Sedum sexangulare likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September.
Ideal soil
Ideal soil
Sedum sexangulare needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Sedum sexangulare
Sedum sexangulare, also known as Tasteless Stonecrop, is an ultra-hardy, mat-forming succulent native to central and eastern Europe. Its fleshy, bright green to red-orange leaves are arranged in whorls of six, giving the plant its name. It forms a dense, spreading carpet ideal for ground cover, rock gardens, or green roofs. In summer, it blooms with small, star-shaped yellow flowers that attract pollinators. Drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil. Cold-hardy to around -20°C, it’s perfect for UK gardens, especially in borders, containers, or between paving stones.
