Sedum moranense quick care tips

Watering

Sedum moranense is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Sedum moranense likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Sedum moranense needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Sedum moranense

A very attractive delicate looking sedum that grows to a shape of a small bonsai tree. It produces tiny white star-shaped flowers on the tips of each branch.

A very hardy succulent that can survive temperatures well below freezing.

Perfect for companion planting with Sempervivums and Echeveria to create the ideal all-year-round outdoor planter.

When creating any planter that will be outdoors all year round make sure the mix is as free draining as possible. It's a good idea to feed in the spring with a slow release granular feed or liquid seaweed.

Awarded Plant of the Month for February 2024.
