Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin' quick care tips

Watering

Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin' is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings following the 3 Ds: drench, drain and dry. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time over winter.

Feeding

Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin' likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin' needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this.

Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin'

Gasteria 'Rumplestiltskin' is a slow-growing hybrid that offsets slowly over time, our mother plant is roughly 12 years old and turns slightly pink in colour when introduced to high light.

We have found that it grows equally as well in lower light levels such as a north-facing windowsill, where it will stay greener in colour.
