Yucca rostrata is also known as the Beaked Yucca or Blue swan. This is an amazing hardy succulent plant that has stunning blue foliage which adds great presence and movement into any collection and/ or garden. With its growth formation it adds architectural interest to the garden or patio. It is native to Chihuahua and Coahuila Mexico, Texas USA and is hardy to -15°C.
We have used the Yucca rostrata in our last two gold medal awarded RHS Chelsea displays. It can grow up to 4 metres high with a structural foliage of 1 to 1.2 m wide. This can give you one stunning centre piece for your collection.
This is an incredibly popular plant in cultivation and can be grown in a pot or planted out into the garden in free draining soil. It can tolerate full sun to part sun but to get the intense colours its best grown in bright conditions. It will start to form a trunk as this plant reaches a height of 80 to 100cm. It is capable of branching to form a new head after flowering. When it flowers it can produce flower spikes up to 1m high with lots of large white fragrant flowers.
Once established this plant can give you good, lush colouration and good growth rates. It will grow well with regular feeding and watering, you can use a slow-release fertiliser or a liquid feed in the growing season.
These plants are grown in 10L pots, and will be shipped without any soil.
