Echeveria setosa var. deminuta quick care tips

Watering

Echeveria setosa var. deminuta is a drought-tolerant succulent variety, so watering around once per week in the peak growing season is advised. Ensure the soil dries between waterings. It is also advised to completely stop watering when conditions are frosty, keeping the plant dry for several months at a time.

Feeding

Echeveria setosa var. deminuta likes to be fed to bring out its best forms and colours. We recommend feeding with a liquid seaweed feed every 2 weeks in the main growing season from April to September. A feed we recommend is the one from our friends at LittleGreenSeaweed.

Ideal soil

Echeveria setosa var. deminuta needs free draining soil to thrive. We recommend a mixture of 1/3 John Innes no.2, 1/3 perlite and 1/3 coconut coir. The soil mix we offer here is similar in composition to this. Adding extra grit may be useful to add even more drainage for these desert-dwellers.

Echeveria setosa var. deminuta

A subspecies that arose in cultivation in the U.S. Original form is native to the mountains of Oaxaca and Puebla, Mexico.

Echeveria setosa v. deminuta is a stunning blue stemless succulent. It has less hairy leaves than Echeveria setosa or setosa v. minor but compromises with out of this world red and yellow colours in summer light.

Best planted in a succulent display to contrast its colours.
