グラプトペタルム・ルスビーは、群生する多肉植物で、明るい場所ではピンクやライラックの色合いを帯びたパステルグレーグリーンのロゼットを形成します。アリゾナとメキシコ北部の岩だらけの斜面が原産で、砂利混じりの水はけの良い土壌と日当たりの良い場所を好み、鮮やかな色とコンパクトな成長で栽培者を楽しませてくれます。耐寒性はおよそ-3℃までですが、霜には弱いため、冬には屋内に避難できる鉢で育てるのが最適です。この種は子株や落ち葉からも容易に増殖し、すぐに鉢やロックガーデンから魅力的にあふれるような密生した塊を形成するため、コレクターにも初心者にも優れた選択肢となります。
