クラッスラ ‘エメラルド’ は、クラッスラ・バルクレイとクラッスラ・スザンナエの交配種で、ジョン・クーパーのコレクションで偶然実生されたと考えられています。
名前が示すように、オフシーズンには非常にエメラルドグリーンの色を呈しますが、暖かく明るい月にはよりルビーレッドになります。その形状は両親の特徴をよく表しており、頂部に向かって開く、締まった蛇のようなロゼットをしています。冬の間、この品種はロゼットの中心から美しい白い花を咲かせます。
