Fenestraria aurantiaca

These fascinating plants are native to South African and Namibia, there commonly known as baby toes or window plants due to their appearance. They grow in sandy soils almost completely hidden from praying animals, only the very tips where the windows are situated are on show, these specially designed windows allow light to pass through allowing the plant to photosynthesize. Fenestraria aurantiaca have adapted to grow in low rainfall area’s during the Summer months and then spring into life when the rains come in Autumn, they also produce a bright yellow flower during this period. Pot on during the Autumn this encourages more growth and more flowers for the following season. Water and feed mid-Autumn with a weak solution of Seaweed feed. Keep on the dry side during the hot Summer months, a tiny bit of moisture is required to stop the plant from drying out completely.

Please Note: Succulents change colour throughout the year and the plants we deliver can look different from the pictures. All plants are shipped bare root (without soil).
