Pachyphytum are members of the Crassulaceae family and are native to Mexico, with approximately 20 known species, in their natural habitat they can be found growing in rocky crevices and cliff faces. The common name for these wonderful plants is moonstones, they love a free draining compost mix and plenty of sun.
Varieties such as Pachyphytum oviferum grow into clusters with short stems, these stems hold the very glaucas and almost round leaves, during the spring the plant erupts with an impressive floral display, the flowering stems produce up to eight pure white bracts encasing the most stunningly bright red flowers, each opening in sequence one after another.
